There was a guide somewhere, but I can't find it now -.- I use The KMPlayer to extract frames: - pause the video where you want to start capturing frames - right-click, capture > frame: quick extraction - press start on the pop up window - press play on the player & pause it (& press stop on the pop up window) when you want to stop capturing frames
To access the frames, right-click on the video in KMPlayer and go to capture > open capture folder.
To make the gif, I use Jasc Animation shop 3.
[choose 'select all' before doing anything in this] I copy & paste the frames into Jasc, and then see if I have to reverse the frames or not (if you do, it's under "Animation" in the top menu). Then, I cull the animation (also under the "Animation" tab) by 8, then by 6, and then by 4. I resize the animation (again, under the 'Animation tab' xD) and then file > save as.
Sorry it's pretty confusing, but it would make more sense if you were looking at the programs while reading this. Both can be downloaded for freee (the Jasc one says it's a 30-day trial, but I've had it for much longer than that)
