I need more angry icons.

So I'm sure that everyone's noticed the little facebook & twitter boxes at the bottom of comments & when you're posting a new entry... And I really didn't think much of it until I read that this means that people can repost their comments on your locked entries and link your journal that way to their facebook/twitter.

I don't know about you guys, but I do not want my LJ and FB to ever be connected. I have 2 RL friends on LJ (& one more friend knows about my account), but I trust them to not tell all 500+ of my real life contacts on facebook that I read slash fanfiction about members of Asian boybands.

I'm not saying that I don't trust you guys, but it is really easy to accidentally click on of those little boxes.

there seems to be a way to get rid of it on firefox/greasemonkey here. i haven't installed it yet, but it seems to be working for people.

this is such a stupid idea, especially now that people can intentionally/accidentally link to flocked posts. dnw ever.

But doesn't that only get rid of it for yourself? Like someone on your f-list could still accidentally repost a comment they leave on one of your locked posts... It would work if everyone installs that, but... yeah :|

Seriously, what was LJ thinking. People can copy paste parts of their comments that they think are so amazing that they need to repost it on their own.

yeah, it only works for you, but if everyone is worried about it and installs it, it might be the only way to stop it for now. but hopefully lj can fix it before we all have to do that. :\

I am still wtfing now, really. I can't believe they would do something like that, but not even aloowing a stupid disable option! I'm using the firefox add on (and I don't have FB anyway), but the thought that someone could podt my locked post somewhere by accident fills me with rage.

I hope they get the message this time. :|

I don't think they can repost your entire locked entry, but just their comment on it. Which is still stupid. And bad because it would link your journal... I have former teachers and everyone from high school, middle school, even elementary school on facebook and I do not want them to be linked to my LJ. Even if half my posts are public, I lock everything with my name & school...

If I forget to lock it and then edit it, FB and Twitter user can see it anyway thanks to the link on the comment, from what I can understand. And I really rather not. I'm a privacy paranoid and I really like having things SEPARATED and PRIVATE, and not have to worry about someone accidentally hit buttons all the freaking time or having to deal with random spam from bored people D:

Was going to mention about the greasemonkey code, but seems I was beaten to it :D But yeah, even though it's only a temporary solution and shouldn't even be necessary (side eyeing you so hard right now, lj) the more people that install it, the better :(

I stopped being automatically logged in to FB ages ago because of random sites prompting me to link my fb account. Damn them. :/ I don't see the point of linking up everything, if I wanted to link all my social media platforms, I'd do it myself.

Well, if someone says something in a comment on a public post, I'd just screen it haha. I don't like this crossposting thing though. By 'connected' I just mean that I don't want my RL contacts on facebook to get a link to my LJ. It's possible since a few of my LJ friends live nearby and are going to UCs and all haha...
